Before the Session

Where should we do our session

This is about telling your story. I enjoy setting up shots in the comfort of your home, out in your neighborhood or at a favorite NYC spot. When you look back on your photos, these are the places that will bring you right back to those years - reminding you where you spent time and how you felt as a growing family. I use natural light on location so I’ve been able to snap incredible shots of family hugs on a queen bed or parents swinging toddlers on the sidewalks. See my blog for inspiration and let’s make a plan together.

Do you travel for a session

I certainly do. If outside of Brooklyn, Manhattan or Queens, you’ll see a travel fee added to the session rate. Contact me for more details.

What time of day is best for a session outside

Early morning or late afternoon are best for the light. I can capture your family with beautiful soft shadows in the 2hrs after sunrise or before sunset. That said, I know there are other things to factor in - naps, meals, energy levels - so I’m flexible to your needs, as well.

What are your rescheduling/cancellation policies

If the weather doesn't cooperate, I will be in touch prior to the session so we can decide on how to go about it. We can sometime just move the session start time around a bit and keep the same day. If you’d like to cancel the session after signing the agreement, the retainer is non-refundable.

During The Session

What can we expect, what is your style

I’m intentional about creating a relaxed environment that puts your entire family at ease. As a lifestyle family photographer, I want to capture an afternoon in the life of your family just the way you are. It’s about showing the love and connection you have while spending time together. My photojournalistic approach combined with the edginess of street photography preserves the charms of your family in a natural and realistic way. I don't expect your kids to be perfect or to behave. I want to capture them the way they are, so that you can remember their little personalities later in life.

How should we prepare for the session

As much as you want. You can dust the bookshelves if it makes you feel more serene the day of, but you can also just make sure everyone has clean clothes and show up. Don’t worry: I’ll send you some guidance on what to wear, what to organize, and how to talk to your kids beforehand. What makes or breaks a session isn’t clean floors - it’s being able to let go and have fun together as a family.

How long will the photo session last

Family sessions last around 60 minutes. It's usually the right amount of time.

For newborn sessions, it is usually 2 hours, with plenty of time to feed, change and cuddle.

What if the weather isn't cooperating

We all know the anxiety that little rain cloud or lightning bolt can conjure. Let me be a force of calm in those moments. I’ll just touch base with you the day before the session and we can decide on a plan, whether that’s moving indoors or rescheduling.

After the session

How long will it take to get our pictures

I’ll send your online gallery your way 3 or 4 weeks after the session.

How many pictures will we get

You’ll get 50 fully-edited photos from our day. These are all yours to download from the gallery as part of the session fee. You don't have to select your favorites, you get to keep them all.

Will my photos be retouched

Lightly. I want the photos to represent you exactly the way you are. So while I’ll remove the random pimple or candy wrapper there’s no airbrushing happening here. Get a feel for what I mean on my site, where everything is edited up to my standards.

Can I order prints

Absolutely. If it was my session, I would want the ability to select my favorite photos and order prints or make an album right from my online gallery. So that’s what I made possible. No need to upload your images anywhere else.
